This lightweight stroller from Out N About is an excellent choice for those looking for a pram that can take on rough terrain and country walks. The larger rear wheels offer better performance on bumpy surfaces, and the one-handed folding system is an added benefit.

It also comes with an extended sun canopy that is compatible with a travel system that includes a car seat and carrycot (sold separately). Our test-driver's parents found this pram a breeze to use on smooth surfaces and in the city, but it struggled a little over bumpy terrain.

1. UPPAbaby Ridge

You see UPPAbaby strollers everywhere on playgrounds and city sidewalks however the Ridge is their first jogger also built for All-terrain pushchair adventure. Launched in 2021, the Ridge from UPPAbaby is a strong competitor to BOB joggers, such as the Alterrain Pro, Revolution Flex and Rambler. The Ridge shares many of the same features with other Joggers. However, it stands out for its mountain bike-style disc braking system and never-flat tires.

The Ridge seat is more upright than the seats on most other jogging strollers, making it easier for children to view their surroundings. The seat can be reclined into several positions by using an ordinary plastic toggle and two straps connected to the stroller's back. The canopy is large and can be extended for greater protection during long walks. However the plastic cover can be dirty during muddy or wet excursions.

The UPPAbaby Ridge's wheels are made of foam rather than air-filled. This means that you don't have to carry extra tires or an air pump. The Ridge has the rear wheel that locks for running and the front wheel adjusts for different conditions. Like other jogging strollers the UPPAbaby Ridge comes with a parking brake that can be activated by the user to stop the stroller if you need to take a break or catch your breath.

A large basket beneath the seat offers plenty of storage space for gear, snacks, and toys for kids. The canopy can be opened to provide more coverage when it is sunny or closed during cloudy days. Ridge is compatible with UPPAbaby's infant car seat and Bassinet accessory. (Adapters are available separately).

One drawback of the UPPAbaby Ridge is that it's heavy and bulky when folded. It can be a challenge to take public transport with the stroller and it's a challenge to maneuver in tight shopping aisles or small storefronts.

4. Graco Expedition

The Graco Expedition, our cheapest model is a great option for parents who are looking for a smooth ride with plenty of storage space. It's compact and can stand on its own when not in use to conserve space. Its wheels operated smoothly over the various terrains we tested and maneuvered efficiently around corners. However, it didn't perform as well as other wagons we tested when going up hills.

The Expedition has a parent tray with dual cup holders as well as an enclosed storage space. It also includes a tray for children with two cup holders, a snack area and two cupholders. It is compatible with an adapter for Graco car seats to create an entire travel system. The adjustable canopy rotates in both directions, but it's too small to offer any protection.

The Expedition has brake pedals that control both rear wheels. The brake pedals are easy to operate and release. However the underside can be rough for feet that are not wearing sandals. In our runaway wagon test, the brakes stopped a stroller with a weight but it slid off the road before coming to a stop. This model doesn't have a 3-point harness. The cushioned seat is comfortable, however it isn't reclining to the fullest extent. It's not a good option for runners.
